Heavy Plates

Full portfolio for all applications

Our heavy plate appropriate for many of industries from oil& gas, petrochemical and power generator to general structural steel. Also heavy plates are used for applications such as pressure vessel, cryogenic, large bore pipe and constructions. the heavy plates have been categorized according to their chemical compositions to nickel based, stainless steel and carbon & alloy steel.

Nickel base plate

With various other metals nickel forms solid solution alloys within a wide range of concentration. Nickel base plates are technically applied due to their high specific corrosion resistance and their special physical properties. The element in question are copper, iron, chromium, cobalt and molybdenum. Inter-metallic phases are formed by nickel with the elements titanium, aluminum and niobium and also with molybdenum after ageing. In nickel base plate nickel forms cubic-face centered solid solution alloys with chromium and iron in a wide range of compositions. These alloys have a high corrosion resistance at ambient and high temperatures. In the area of high iron contents, the austenitic nickel base plate is located, followed by Cr-Ni alloys with increasing nickel contents up to about 70% Ni, 20% Cr and 10% Fe. To further improve their strength, alloys can be additionally alloyed with cobalt and Mo or with Ti, Al and Nb for age hardening. Ni-Cr and Ni-Cr-Mo nickel base plate which is contained in the following list.

Stainless Steel Plates

Stainless steel plates are widely used in various industries because of their resistance to corrosion. The welding of stainless steel plate, especially the austenitic grades, is important in energy-related systems, for instance, power generation and petrochemical refining systems. Stainless steel plate is a class of Fe-base alloys that are noted for their high corrosion and oxidation resistance. stainless steel plate usually contains from 12 to 27% Cr and 1 to 2%Mn by weight, with the addition of Ni in some grades. A small amount of carbon is also present, either deliberately added or as an unavoidable impurity. In Afra Industrial Alloys you can find the following stainless steel plates that contain AUSTENITIC, SUPER-AUSTENITIC, AUSTENITIC-FERRITIC (DUPLEX), SPECIALTIES, HEAT RESISTANCE ALLOY, FERRITIC and MARTENSITIC. In the Afra Industrial Alloys we offer a metallurgical solution for stainless steel plates welding.

Carbon & Low Alloy Steel Plates

Carbon and Alloy Steel Plates are mainly used in the construction of buildings, bridges, ships, pressure vessels, pipes, large machines and other heavy structures, for which good form-ability, weld-ability and machine-ability are required. The impairment of these desirable characteristics with increasing carbon content usually limits the constructional grades, with the low carbon grades predominating. Many alloy steel are also produced as plate. In the final structure, however, alloy steel plate is sometimes heat treated to achieve mechanical properties superior to these typical of the hot-finished product. In Afra Industrial Alloys you can find four categories of carbon and low alloy plates:

steel for high temperature service,

steel for moderate temperature service,

steel for sour service,

steel for cryogenic service.

Offshore High Strength Steel Plates

The offshore industry requires continued development of new technologies in order to produce oil in regions, which are inaccessible to exploit with the existing technologies. Sometimes, the cost of production with the existing know-how makes it unattractive. With the depletion of onshore and offshore shallow water reserves, the exploration and production of oil in deep water has become a challenge to the offshore industry. Offshore exploration and production of minerals is advancing into deeper waters at a fast pace. Many deep water structures have already been installed worldwide. Many of these fields are small and their economic development is a challenge today to the offshore engineers. This has initiated the development of new structures and concepts. Many of these structures are unique in many respects and their efficient and economic design and installation are a challenge to the offshore community. Afra Industrial Alloys supplies complete range of offshore high strength steel plates and their metallurgical solution for welding, heat treatment and forming.
